Farida Kondwilkar, Nursery Manager/Finance Administrator/HR
Farida joined the team in December 2013. She has 15 years childcare experience. She previously worked for Keystage supply whilst studying for her Foundation Degree in Children’s Learning and Development. Prior to her supply work Farida was a nursery manager in a private setting where she managed the setting for a number of years as well as being the SENCO and safeguarding officer. At Fernbank, Farida has bought along with her all her knowledge and experience as a competent nursery manager.
Farida has now completed her Level 3 CIPD
Rachael Fairhurst, Deputy Manager
Rachael joined Fernbank in September 2014. Rachael has bought along with herself 10 years of childcare experience and has completed her BA Honours Degree in Early Years combined with Special Needs followed by Early Years Practitioner Status (EYP)
Kathy. SENCO & Early Years Practitioner
Kathy is qualified to level three in childcare and started work as a child practitioner in 1998. Her role includes being keyworker to a group of children and is the nurseries SENCO. Kathy has a passion for her group of children having access to the outdoor environment.
Shamim, Bi-lingual Early Years Practitioner
Shamim began working for Fernbank in 2004, and is qualified as a level three practitioner. She is responsible for her group of keyworker children. Shamim also looks after our outdoor provision and serves lunch to the children every day. Shamim has a passion for children having access to the outdoor environment, gardening and nature.
Joanna, Early Years Practitioner
Jo started work at Fernbank in 2006, and is qualified as a level three practitioner. Previously she worked for a local out of school club. Jo is responsible for a group of keyworker children. Jo is also responsible for all matters relating to ICT within the nursery.
Naila, Bi-lingual Early Years Practitioner
Naila is qualified as a level five practitioner in childcare, recently completing her foundation degree. She started working at Fernbank in January 2009. Previously she had worked for Capita, working in various children’s centres in this local area. Naila is also responsible for her keyworker group of children.
Atika, Bi-lingual Early Years Practitioner
Atika is qualified as a level five practitioner in childcare. She started working at Fernbank in May 2012. Atika was previously a student at the nursery. Atika is also responsible for her keyworker group of children. In November 2013, Atika become a SENCO and now caters to assess and refer the pre-school aged children.
Laraib, Bi-lingual Early Years Practitioner
Laraib is qualified as a level three practitioner in childcare. She started working at Fernbank in July 2012. Laraib was previously a student at the nursery. Laraib is also responsible for her keyworker group of children. Laraib is our smile for life co-ordinator. Laraib has recently re-entered the line of education and has embarked on completing her Foundation Degree in Social Care.
Dawn, Early Years Practitioner
Dawn is a level 5 practitioner she joined our team in December 2012 having previously worked for a private provider. Dawn has a passion for the outdoors and fully encourages use of all areas once outside, especially the use of the gardens.
Staff undergo training on Safeguarding, First Aid and Food Hygiene on a rolling three year programme. This ensures we are up to date with current thinking.
We currently support students from Blackburn College, St Wilfred’s and Tauheedul 6th Form College and Blackburn University Centre. We have previously supported students from Birmingham University and Preston College, providing all of them with a good understanding of how we implement the Early Years Foundation Stage, as stated by these students in their feedback to us.
